One Word 2015: Accept

  I've prayerfully chosen a word as the theme for my year since 2009. 2009: Gratitude 2010: Giving 2011: Grace 2012: Confident 2013: Well 2014: Share and now, 2015 will be the year to accept. Dictionary.com defines accept like this: 1. to take or receive (something offered); receive with approval or favor: I'm going to accept compliments and constructive criticism with grace and gratitude. 2. to agree or consent to; accede to: I'm going to accept apologies at face value and not hold on to grudges. 3. to respond or answer affirmatively to: I'm going to accept invitations to spend time with friends and family whenever possible.  Relationships are priority this year. 4. to undertake the responsibility, duties, honors, etc., of: I'm … [Read more...]

I’m Not a Runner…..Yet

I have many friends that have taken up running. And, they LOVE it. Like, it has changed their life, their health, their physique for the better and they can't imagine not running type of love it. They post pictures on Instagram and Facebook. Sweaty happy faces after running a 5, 10 or 15k.  Running in inclement weather, on purpose. And for most of 2012, I watched their transformations from the comfort of my couch, shaking my head and thinking "bless their little running hearts". Confidently Me

There is something special about turning the page from December of one year to January of the next. I enjoy the reflection, the looking back on the good, the not-so-good and finding the grace in both. Each new year, since I began blogging, I have prayerfully chosen one word I feel led to focus on in the coming 365 days. In 2009, gratitude. In 2010, giving. In 2011, grace. It is amazing how the moments of the year can directly relate to the word for that year. I knew a few months ago what word God was laying on my heart. A word for the outside my comfort zone moments that seem to happen more and more as we step out in faith. A word for the insecure little girl who falls easy prey to the enemies lies.
