A Step In Obedience

I must admit, it is more than a little intimidating to be publishing a post for the first time in 13 months! For many years, this space was where I came to share my heart, to process the goings-on of my daily life and to (hopefully) inspire other women. Then, for a myriad of reasons, it became increasingly quiet here. Eventually, I didn’t know how to break the silence, nor did I have a desire to. I even contemplated saving my favorite posts and just deleting this ole blog, as I felt I had run out of things to say.

The reason I didn’t just delete the blog and close this chapter of my life was the nagging nudging of the Holy Spirit, continuously saying I wasn’t yet done here. I could list the reasons I stopped writing, but it would just be an attempt to justify my disobedience. When I started praying for my One Word for 2016 back in late November, I had a few great contenders in my mind. But every time I took those words to God in prayer, He would give me the same word right back. You probably guessed it by now. My One Word for 2016 is Write.

Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. Proverbs 3:3

Write the study on Isaiah 58 that I began in *cough* 2011.

Write devotions for teen mamas.

Write down our foster care journey.

Write God’s truth in my heart and in the hearts of my family through my thoughts, words and actions.

Write words of encouragement for women living with chronic illness, women believing the lies Satan is whispering in their ears, women feeling too far gone to ever be noticed, let alone loved by Almighty God, women who are feeling discouraged in their marriage, women overwhelmed by their life stage, hurting women.

You show that you are a letter from Christ, the result of our ministry, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the Living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts. II Corinthians 3:3

This post is my first step towards keeping my promise to God that 2016 will be the year that I return to writing.

Oh, that my words were recorded. That they were written on a scroll, that they were inscribed with an iron tool on lead, or engraved in rock forever. Job 19:23.

I would be honored if you would join me on this journey by reading along this year, as well as praying for me and holding me accountable!

For those kind of days….

Sometimes life is no fun. Not particularly tragic compared to other things you have been through or watched others endure. Not anything specific that you can change or control. Just tough, with the days that blend into the next and you feel like you are spinning around and accomplishing nothing and wonder if there willContinue Reading

Giving Up On God {part two}

Read part one here. Why was God letting this happen?  What did I do wrong?  This isn’t how it was supposed to be. It didn’t take but a few days for my family and the authorities to find me when I ran away.  The family court judge deciding my fate took my “strong feelings” intoContinue Reading

Giving Up On God {part one}

I remember the day I gave up on God. I held the phone to my ear while angry, hot tears streamed silently down my face.  As I listened and realized that I had been lied to for months by those closest to me, I made a rash and defiant decision.  If no one was lookingContinue Reading

Reaching for God sized dreams

Sometimes I feel bad for dreaming, for letting my mind wander to what could be. Then I remember that the desires of my heart can always be conformed to His heart if I relinquish them. There’s nothing wrong with dreaming, so long as you turn the dreams over to the will of God. I dreamContinue Reading

It’s All A Miracle

“I’m a nurse so I have to ask.  Why do you wear the medical ID bracelet?” An innocent question. A fairly simple answer. “I have a blood clotting disorder so I am on blood thinners….and I almost died of a pulmonary embolism in 2008″. Her face paled.  She told me that one of her bestContinue Reading

Playing Catch Up

It has been a whirlwind two weeks.  Last week, Mike and I traveled to Ft. Leonard Wood, MO to pick up our soldier. It was a long, grueling 15 hour drive.  But, I did get to spend it with this cutie. We watched Jason graduate as a military police officer for the US Army {mamaContinue Reading

InstaFriday #2

This week has been a long one.  TGIF, for sure! I have two posts in draft that I just don’t feel led to hit publish on right now but just know, God and I are going through some stuff together.  Confidence was definitely the right word to choose for 2012.  Stay tuned for an announcementContinue Reading

33 Things I’ve Learned about Life

Today is my birthday {it is Elvis’ birthday too, in case you care}. I have had a wonderful day full of love, laughs and family.   Feeling retrospective I decided to chronicle thirty three things I have learned about life {not in any particular order} Polka dots and hot pink make me smile. There are fewContinue Reading
