C & O Canal

{Today is day 24 in Toni’s 30 day challenge}

We live right across the Potomac River in Falling Waters, WV.

Berkeley County is a unique county in West Virginia because many of us that live here are not from here.  This area offers affordable country/suburban living without the price tag of the big city {Washington, DC}.  Many folks, including my sweet hubby, commute daily to DC for work {about 80 miles each way}.

I enjoy living here.  People wave to you, the cashiers at Wal-mart and the gas station remember who you are.  The schools are {relatively} safe places for our boys.

And, there is lots to do for fun right in our backyard.  We enjoy walking the C&O Canal, visiting historic Harper’s Ferry and Berkeley Springs.  We also enjoy the proximity to museums, restaurants and quality health care afforded by living so close to the nation’s capitol.  You can find out more about our area at my site, Eastern Panhandle Moms.

And, God definitely planted me here for a reason.  Berkeley County has the 2nd highest teen pregnancy rate in our state and West Virginia has one of the highest rates of teen pregnancy to non-minority teens.  Given the ministry He has placed me in, I feel like I am where I am supposed to be {although if He called me to move to Florida I would be absolutely fine with it!}

What is your hometown like?
