Does life make my butt look big?

Today’s topic is: Does your hubby help you lose weight or hurt you?

Can I start off by saying that it is incredibly frustrating to be married to the man that can eat a mixing bowl of cereal right before bed and not gain an ounce?  The guy whose 6’2″ self weighed less than my 5’4″ self for a long time?  For crying out loud, the man’s body has barely changed since we married {almost} 14 years ago while mine- well, suffice it to say, my body has changed.

Throw in chronic illness and medication side effects and I can feel like a real mess standing next to him.

I am blessed to have a husband who is attracted to me no matter the season my body is going through.

It makes me think that God gave men some kind of special lens through which they see their spouse.  I can guarantee you that Mike does not see in me what I see when I look in the mirror.

He reminds me all the time all that my body has been through.  Birthing babies, almost dying, illness and surgery.  He waxes sentimental over stretch marks and scars.

I am grateful for that. Grateful that I married a man that looks past the superficial.  Now, if I could only do that myself.  If I loved my body the way that my husband does it would do wonders for my self esteem.

How do you feel about your body compared to how your spouse views your body?

  1. YES! How do they do that?! Well… My Hubbie did put on a bit of weight this winter because he slowed down on activities, but still. He’s loosing it all so fast I wanna scream! Hehe…

I am so thankful that he accepts my bodies new look after four kids myself. He is my confidence booster for sure!!

At least you have an excuse… mine is just kids and the youngest is 10 so I have had plenty of time to loose it. I am thankful I have a hubby that can look past that as well.

Oh my goodness… I love this… “It makes me think that God gave men some kind of special lens through which they see their spouse.” That is SO true. And I am so glad for that. But I do wish I could do it myself! 🙂

  4. You and I are both lucky to have a spouse who still looks at us same way so many years after the courting has ended!

  5. I also have a husband who loves me at any size… and I have been quite a few! Aren’t we lucky girls?!

  6. >If I loved my body the way that my husband does it would do wonders for my self esteem.

YES! I wrote something to that effect a while back. I wish I could look at myself the same way that he does. If you ever figure it out… 😉

  7. My hubby is 6’2″ also and I am 5’2″. He is within 15lbs of me and I hate it! Fortunately, my husband doesn’t care either, but he is happy to help me lose weight by encouraging me. He is awesome.
