Camped Out

We are a camping family.

If you would have told me that statement would ever be true about me when I was younger, I would have belly-laughed.

God has a sense of humor and gave this girly girl all boys {for most of her life} so camping has become a family tradition.

The boys love it because they can fish and swim and hike and ride bikes and play with fire.

I like it because it is typically a quiet and restful time with my family.

In the sermon yesterday, our pastor mentioned these verses found in John 8:31-32

To the Jews who believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples.  Then you will know the truth and the truth will set you free”.

The phrase “hold to” actually means to abide in.  To stay, to remain, to dwell

As I sat there listening to that, two words popped in to my mind- CAMP OUT.

Here is my paraphrase:

If believers choose to camp out in the Word, then they are truly my disciples, my students.  In the Word they will find the Truth, the absolute Truth, and it will set them free.

With all the unknowns surrounding my health right now I have been distracted and distraught.  I have not been abiding in God’s Word near as much as I should.

I am accepting His invitation and I am going to spend some time camped out in my Father’s book.  I really need His truths right now.
