Catching up…

Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters

1.  Sweet Pea turned one month old on October 1st!  Where does the time go?  Miss S. is doing a great job as a new mama and we are all adjusting to our new family dynamics.  I have been accused of spoiling Sweet Pea {and I’m okay with that!}

2.  I am addicted to baby headbands.  I peruse Etsy for cute ones like this {can.not.wait for it to arrive} and make sure that Sweet Pea is looking her girliest each and every day. Miss S. and I have a blast dressing her up while my hubby shakes his head at our “antics”.

3.  In other Smallwood family news, Jared is no longer grounded.  It was a long {almost} three weeks for Jared to get his geometry honors grade up.  Sometimes, I think that grounding a kid is punishing the parents but I am pretty sure he won’t be “forgetting” to turn things in again!

4.  We are experiencing a revival in our local church body and it is so exciting!  We are starting a new church wide serving project.  This is something Mike and I have been working behind the scenes on {with a wonderful team} for several months and to see it come to culmination is so awesome!  God is moving in a big way and I am so looking forward to where He takes us from here!  Our small group was planning our random act of kindness project last night and to hear the ideas bouncing back and forth, well I know it must have pleased God’s ears as much as mine!

5.  I love fall!  Pumpkin spice lattes, my Rubbermaid bin of fall decorations out of the attic, the boy’s choosing their Halloween costumes and the beautiful palate of colors displayed as the leaves change on the trees of the Blue Ridge Mountains….have I mentioned I love fall?

6.  We are starting a new book at our Monday morning women’s study today.  The Power of a Praying Wife by Stormie Omartian.  I almost didn’t sign up {to be completely honest and transparent} because the last time I read this book, I got a HEALTHY heap of conviction served up with a slice of humble pie.  For some reason, I don’t think that this time through will be any different.

7. Speaking of the hubby, we went on a date Friday night!  A friend mentioned on Facebook that she and her hubby were sneaking away to a movie and when I told them to have a good time, they invited us to join them.  Purely out of affection for me, my hubby went to see the chick flick comedy, You Again, which was cute {albeit a tad cheesy and predictable}.  I just enjoyed holding hands and sharing popcorn with my handsome man!

8.  And, speaking of dates, Jason wants to go on his first one this weekend and this mama is freaking out!  He is seventeen and a senior and I know that this is part of growing up and as my hubby keeps reminding me “it is just a movie” but I am so not ready for this.  I am so not ready for this.

Shaping up to be an interesting week!  What miscellaneous things do you have to share?

Comments

  1. Yay for dates with hubby!! 🙂 It takes effort (we’ve got a crew of 7 – so it takes LOTS of effort!) but it’s always worth it — we love a great restaurant followed by a lazy couple of hours in the bookstore. Always fun!

  2. Oh yeah, we love bookstores too!

  3. good to catch up with you.. that baby is adorable..
