Savor the Moment

They are stinky.

They are sarcastic.

Their gangly arms and ever growing feet take up the whole couch as they sprawl out to watch Little People, Big World with their dad and I.

They laugh at things I find inappropriate.  They leave their boxers on the bathroom floor and leave the cabinet doors open in the kitchen.                                                                                                               google images

They eat all that I have prepared for dinner and ask for more.  They drink *organic* milk by the half gallon.

They are embarrassed to be seen with me in public.  They roll their eyes when I suggest an activity.

They are adolescents.

They are compassionate when they see someone in need.

They still come to hug and kiss me every night before bed.

They worry when I am not feeling well.

They want our approval and are thankful for our rules.

They come and share Bible verses that spoke to them.  They remind everyone to pray at family outings.

They are adolescents.

The day is coming when they will fly this nest.  Coming too soon for this mama bird.  But, I know that they will be just fine and that the God that will get me through that time will be holding them as well.

For now I savor these moments and put the big, stinky feet in my lap to make room on the couch for me.
