Cheap Date Night Ideas

Mike and I have long made it a tradition to have date nights.  A strong marriage requires nurturing and attention.  Nurturing and attention require quiet- which doesn’t happen in our house unless we are away from the kids!

We love finding unique and creative ways to spend time together that don’t break our budget.  Here are a few of our favorites:

  • taking a walk at a local park with our doggies
  • sharing an ice cream sundae
  • going out for lunch (cheaper than a dinner date)
  • going out for dessert or coffee
  • going to see live entertainment (free) at local coffee shop

Or, one of the best things is to stay in for a date.  If you wait until the kids go to bed or (even better) get a sitter, you can rent a movie, pop some popcorn (I love mine with old bay seasoning sprinkled on) and snuggle with your sweetie on the couch.

That last date idea can be even cheaper if you use this code from Blockbuster for use at their movie rental kiosks (there is one at our local convenience store)

Code: 5G13B41 (This code entitles you to get your second movie rental free after you rent your first movie for $1)

Fine print: Code is valid thru 3/31/2010. When you rent a movie at the regular price, you’ll receive the first night’s rental on a second movie FREE. Extra night charges and taxes apply. May not be combined with any other offer. Rental terms and conditions apply. Not valid at Blockbuster store locations.

So, go have a cheap date night.  Make it a movie marathon or rent the second movie to keep your kids entertained while you and your hubby have quiet time.  Enjoy!!

I'm a cheap date too! 😉 Lol I so wish we could make it more of our routine each week/month! Hubs military work schedule doesn't always allow for it though! 🙁

  3. Popcorn with Old Bay? Wow, I never thought of that, but it sounds really good. I love to stay in for date nights. We finally got furniture in our basement, so I am looking forward to movie nights in the future.
