Dr. Phil says I’m a good mom…

and other random things about moi.  First of all, I tuned into the Dr. Phil show today (as I usually do but today had a reason other than I looove Dr. Phil) to catch my friend, Kadi Prescott.  She was a guest, along with her adorable daughter talking about tween issues.  So, anyway there was another little girl on the show asking Dr. Phil to help her talk her mom into allowing her to get a Facebook account.  This little girl is only ten years old and I completely agree with Dr. Phil that she is too young to have a Facebook page.

Better yet, Dr. Phil continued on to say that when kids do get a Facebook page their parents should be closely monitoring the page, the messages, etc. because the internet is just not a safe place for a child to be unsupervised.  And the best part- my 13 (and he would add 5 months) year old son was watching with me and heard Dr. Phil say I am doing it right!  Jared just got a Facebook page last week, it is registered with my email so that all the alerts, etc. come to me and I question him about things his friends have said that trouble me.  It has really opened up a dialogue between us that is healthy.  He gets to be cool and I am involved.  Just the right mix for his age (Dr. Phil said so).

In other random ramblings, I saw this questionnaire on another bloggers page and decided to answer the questions so you, my precious online friends, can learn more about me (if you wanted to know)

Here goes:

1. Who was your first prom date? It was supposed to be my boyfriend but I had recently broken up with him so I went with the brother of a classmate and for the life of me can’t remember his name.  I do remember that he was afraid of elevators and I was a nice enough girl to take off my heels and walk up the BAZILLION steps to the top floor of the World Trade Center in Baltimore, MD.  Yes, I was sweet like that.

2. Do you still talk to your first love? No.

3. What was your first alcoholic drink? Does sneaking a sip of my grandfather’s rum and coke count?  No?  Then cheap screw off cap wine.

4. What was your first job? Other than babysitting?  I helped in the office at my boarding school during the summer when I was 14.

5. What was your first car? That was all mine with no strings attached?  A blue Toyota Tercel hatchback.

6. Who was the first person to text you today? Briana (my nephew’s mom)

7. Who was the first person you thought of this morning? My kiddos

8. Who was your first grade teacher? Mrs. Vassar. I just found her on Facebook!

9. Where did you go on your first flight in a plane? Florida.  Lots of my family live there so I had frequent flier miles from a young age.

10. Who was your first best friend and do you still talk? Megan has been my best friend since we met when I was nine and she was eight.  Yes, we still talk.  I watch her youngest during the week and she just had dinner at my house tonight!

11. Where was your first sleepover? at my friend Daphne’s house.  I remember her room was decorated with a horse theme.

12. Who was the first person you talked to today? My hubby

13. Whose wedding were you in for the first time? My cousin, Chrissy’s wedding.  I was a bridesmaid and I sang a John Michael Montgomery song

14. What was the first thing you did this morning? call my hubby to complain about the hives all over me

15. What was the first concert you went to? okay, I went through a rough period in my early teens so don’t freak out but it was the DC 101 Chili Cook off (which is quite different from the type of music I listen to now)

16. First tattoo? I am too much of a chicken to actually get one but if I wasn’t such a baby I would have a small honeybee on my left shoulder (my name means honeybee in Greek)

17. First piercing? My ears…when I was 12.

18. First foreign country you went to? Mexico

19. First movie you remember seeing? Mary Poppins

20. What state (province) did you first live in? Maryland

21. Who was your first room mate? Ryan (a girl) in boarding school, 9th grade

22. When was your first detention?  I never got detention, went straight from good girl to getting expelled (loooong story)

23. When was your first kiss? I was 12.  ’nuff said

24. What is one thing you would learn, given the chance? to play the guitar

25. Who will be the next person to post this? Would love my readers to post this on their blog so I can learn more about them. (hint hint)
