Back to School with Peter Walsh

Back-to-School has become a herculean effort for parents and students. To ease the transition, OfficeMax hosted an exclusive webcast (a.k.a “blogcast”) for a special group of bloggers featuring renowned organizational expert, Peter Walsh, Heather Wolpert-Gawron, an award-winning teacher, Ana Picazo, a well-known mom blogger, and two students. Together, they discussed strategies, tips and advice from the real experts on how to organize and prepare students for back-to-school. Bloggers submitted questions and participated in a TweetChat with Peter, Ana and Heather.

On August 6 I was fortunate to be on the blogcast with Peter Walsh and the esteemed ladies above, getting back to school tips from the pros.  Office Max has come out with an adorable line of products called Schoolio-Von-Hoolio for the ’09-10 school year.  I received a sample in late July that included a 7 pocket expandable file, purple heart clipboard, drawstring backsack and much more.  The products are cute and durable, however the samples I received were more appropriate for a tween girl than the boys that God has blessed me with.  After the blogcast, I donated most of the products given to me by Office Max to a needy student and she LOVED them!  The prices for this line are also reasonabe and competitive with other stores.  The collection varies from .99- $5.99.

officemax  As with the previous Peter Walsh/Office Max webcasts I have been a part of we were given great wisdom and tips to share with our readers.  Here are some of the specific tips shared by the experts during this blogcast:

1) Find the Vision you have for a Space
2) Make Organization a Family Value
3) Use the Right Tools for Great Organization

1) Show that you Value Organization
2) Establish Clear Limits and Routines
3) Always ‘Finish the Cycle’ (Complete a Task)

1) Establish Clear Routines
2) Involve Kids with Classroom Organization

My boys went back to school yesterday with their new shoes, new bookbags and new school supplies.  I look forward to a successful school year for them and thank Office Max and Peter Walsh for the extra help in sending them off on the right foot.  Be sure to check out the new Schoolio-Von-Hoolio line at Office Max.
