Thankful Thursday- Security

Sometimes, when life hits a smooth (and for me this is a relative term) plane, it is tempting to hold your breath and wait for the next shoe to drop. Anticipating a crisis, thinking this is too good to be true. Friends, that is a sad way to live. But, for many years it is exactly how I lived. It was a stronghold. I was in bondage to drama and fear. Today I was reminded by the story of Gideon in Judges 6 that I have been set free from those times. I no longer wonder “why me”? and prepare for the worst. I am content in all circumstances because the joy of the Lord truly is my strength.

Does that mean I am perfect? Far from it (as my family would be only too happy to attest) but I no longer live in panic mode. The events of the last two years in my life have made Romans 8:28 come alive in my spirit. I know, without a shadow of a doubt, that

…in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.

And for that knowledge and security I am forever thankful. For more Thankful Thursday posts visit here and if you need a jolt of thankfulness read the entire chapter of Romans 8. You can’t help but be thankful!! At least not me!
