Not Me Monday

Having a long weekend at home with the hubby and the kids certainly makes for interesting “not-me’s” πŸ™‚

~I did not threaten my children that they were getting no big electronic gifts this year because they are irresponsible and do not take care of the things they already own. This did not scare my children so much that they spent the entire weekend asking if their behavior that day was responsible and if it was possible to change my mind. (he he, the power of motherhood)

~I was not secretly grateful it is that time of the month since hubby was home for so many days in a row πŸ˜‰

~I did not hold my breath and bite my tongue while my boys gleefully decorated the Christmas tree. I did not want to jump up and take over because there are empty spots and ornaments hanging too low. I am not that particular and I would not want my kids to think they didn’t do a beautiful job of decorating the tree. (see picture on right)

~I did not eat enough at two different turkey meals to make the scale lie and say I gained four lbs. this week. I wouldn’t do that- I want to be healthy!

~I did not read blogs, comment on blogs and post my little heart out when the boys and the hubby were outside playing. I am not so addicted to the internet that I can’t take a little break.

~My heart did not break a little and a stray tear did not find it’s way down my cheek as my boys and I made turkey cookies. I did not realize moments like these are way too quickly coming to a close and it did not make me so sad that I do not want another child!

  3. awww..the cookie story brought a tear to MY eye! And the tree looks great! πŸ™‚

  4. Ok…I am laughing hard at the hubby comment….only because I can relate.

I also gained 4….or maybe 5….I am trying to convince myself it is water weight and that if I keep drowning myself with water the bloat will go away (can you drink away fat?)

  5. ben and erin says:

  7. I totally know what you mean about the tree thing. I am really having to learn the “everything doesn’t have to be perfect” thing…

    Have a great week!

  8. HAHA @ your time of the month!!

  9. Great post! I’m not sure I can relinquish my hold of decorating the tree…you are a troooper!

  10. I totally relate to the having another child because this stage is almost over. I made the mistake once of mentioning this to my hubby – he started sleeping on the couch. Before he leaves the house in the morning he tells the kids “whatever you did to your mother yesterday, don’t do it again today – she needs what little sanity she has left”. Sorry for the ramble, guess your post brought up a hot topic for me…

  11. Awe… I need to make cookies WITH my kids!!

I’m going to have to do the same thing soon when my son helps decorate my tree! I love the turkey cookies :-).
